The files that are needed for the tests/labs in GMetrix are copied and created into the GMetrixTemplates folder during the test. The GMetrixTemplates folder will remove itself when you exit a test/lab, so the folder and files only exist during a test/lab.
The default location for the GMetrixTemplates folder is in C:USERDocuments.


You can change the location of where the GMetrixTemplates folder is created by doing the following:

  1. First, make sure that you are using the latest version of the GMetrix software. You can download the client to the newest version at gmetrix.net/download.
  2. Second, go into Options > Local User Settings and select the Change Directory button next to the GMetrix Templates Directory, and designate a location on the system that you know you have read/write access to (student folder, shared drive, or even a folder on the desktop). After selecting the location click on the Save button to lock in the changes.

Open Microsoft Word, then choose FileOptionsAdvanced pane. Scroll down to the General section and click on the File Locations button. This dialog sets files locations for all of Office, not just Word. Click on User Templates, then on the Modify button. Enable Javascript support in the browser.



If your desktop shows no icons at all, right-click (or press and hold) the desktop and select View. If Show desktop icons has no checkmark, click it to add one.

If that doesn't work, try this:

  • Select Start > Settings > Personalization > Themes > Desktop icon settings.

  • Make sure the check box for Recycle Bin is checked, then select OK. You should see the icon displayed on your desktop.

Note: If you are in tablet mode, desktop icons are not displayed. To see your desktop icons in tablet mode, go to Start > Settings > System > Tablet Mode. Hide app icons on the taskbar in tablet mode and Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode should be turned off.
